The acronym PVD means Physical Vapor Deposition, substantially it is a process whose ultimate aim is to create a thin layer of material on a surface.

This technology, for example, is used for the manufacture of mirrors and electronic devices and is implemented in an atmosphere of vacuum at a temperature which can vary from 200 to 450 °C. There are a few different types of technologies for this kind of treatments including the arc evaporation, Sputtering and the electron gun.

The advantage of this technique is the ability to obtain films of high purity and with good structure. One of the main uses of the PVD coating is definitely on the tools, where, in fact, is a very common practice.
