The term recrystallization means a particular type of heat treatment aimed to bringing some features such as the structure and the plastic characteristics to those originating in the steel as a result of a cold deformation, with further increase in hardness.
It is essentially a repetition of the crystallization process, and consists of the following phases:
- reset: used to remove imperfections
- recrystallization: to clear the effects of hardening
During the process it can run easily in a gross error maintaining too long heating of the steel, this would result in a severe reduction of the mechanical properties of the material due to the enlargement of the grains which compose it.
