The recent news that Nissan will build the next generation of Mercedes GLA SUV in the central america most famous state for the automotive industry.
Continue the ascent of Mexico in the ranking of the biggest names in the automotive industry, experience and low labor costs (see article) are certainly key factors behind this choice, but also the new arrangements for the export to Europe and the United States are not to be underestimated. The bulk of production is expected to concentrate near Guadalajara, where Nissan has a large manufacturing plant.
It is not the first time that Nissan and Mercedes (and partly also Renault) share projects, factories and engines after the agreement of 2010.
