The Farnborough 2018 salon, the famous British air show on stage in London, saw the launch of the International Flight Training School. The signing ceremony between Leonardo’s CEO, Alessandro Profumo and the Chief of Staff of the Air Force Enzo Vecciarelli was introduced by the Minister of Defense, Elisabetta Trenta.

The public-private partnership aims to strengthen the leadership role that Italy has in the field of advanced training.

Expansion of the flight school of the 61st Wing of the Air Force in Lecce and the provision of new services and four M-346 trainers is planned.

Elisabetta Trenta flew to London to promote a sector on behalf of the government that for Italy represents an important driving force for the development of the real economy.

During his visit to the Farnborough 2018 salon, the minister met the Italian companies present at their booth highlighting how the important commitment undertaken by Trenta and therefore by the government can allow the aerospace and defense sector the certainty necessary to invest in significant programs.

In a post on Facebook the minister writes:

“Yesterday, at the edge of the fair, I had the pleasure of meeting my British counterpart, Defense Minister Gavin Williamson, with whom I discussed the main international dossiers.

The meeting was an opportunity to sign a ‘Statement of intent’, which will further strengthen the partnership at the strategic level between our country and the UK, laying the foundations for an increasingly strong and profitable collaboration in terms of defense with important implications on the industrial level.

At this moment I am visiting the Italian companies present at the fair, in order to promote a sector on behalf of the government that for Italy represents an important driving force for development for the real economy. It means growth and means employment.

In this regard, I want to thank the work of AIAD, the Federation, a member of Confindustria which, representing Italian companies for aerospace, defense and security, contributes to the promotion of our qualities and skills in Europe and in the world.

All this is an important piece of our Made in Italy, which we want to enhance to make Italy more competitive.

We are a great country, with great prospects. We must never forget it! ”
