ERIC PROJECT: a photovoltaic project in Sicily

0

ERIC project is promoted by A.R.S.E. (Association for Energy Saving and Sustainability), a non-profit-making technical-scientific association whose primary objective is the dissemination of a culture of environmental and energy sustainability, in line with Community policies.

The Association is active in Sicily and offers the opportunity to check if your roof is suitable on the website www.progettoeric.it. Regular updates are published on its own Facebook Page.

ERIC project has an ambitious goal related to environmental benefits:

To have conjugated the green economy & circular economy in Sicily: the photovoltaic panels, not only produce clean energy, but at the end of life will be entirely recovered on the territory favoring the local development of entrepreneurship linked to the recycling of waste;

Have contributed to the abatement of 950,000 kg of CO2: equivalent to emissions emitted by a car that travels 1,000 times the route Catania-North Cape;

Start to recover about 4,500 solar panels at the end of their life: that is, subtract almost 90,000 kg of waste from landfills and recover them in the form of secondary raw materials.

In essence, ERIC Project was created to promote the diffusion of distributed renewable energy, which aims at the diffusion of solar energy production plants produced by individual families with the aim of reducing the emissions of climatic gases and guaranteeing the recovery waste at the end of life (the disused photovoltaic panels), and to start a virtuous process in the name of the circular economy.

The unpreparedness of the consumer towards the reading of an estimate (a fact that can generate great distrust) and the inability of the companies on the market to provide the necessary information are the two main issues that are the basis of the answers provided by Progetto ERIC.

The project manages to offer a solution to the careful consumer, giving the opportunity to purchase a low-cost, good quality and socially relevant photovoltaic system. These three characteristics are obtained through the strength of the buying group and its negotiating power.

Through the ERIC purchasing group tool, the first 600 Sicilian families will be able to install a photovoltaic system in their home almost at cost price, since the spirit of the project is focused on the diffusion of renewable energy plants, not on profit. Two systems to choose from: the 3 kW for those with low consumption; 6 kW for the most energy-hungry families.
